TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE WITH ELLEN McGARRAHAN
This week: two truths and a lie with Ellen McGarrahan, a California private investigator. She is the owner of McGarrahan Investigations. Her firm provides litigation support and business intelligence to law firms and businesses. She may be contacted by email, Twitter, and Facebook.
Ellen McGarrahan was raised in New York City and earned an undergraduate degree in History from Yale. She then spent the next decade working as a staff writer and an investigative reporter for several newspapers, including The Village Voice, Miami Herald and SF Weekly. In 1996, Ms. McGarrahan left the fourth estate and found her true calling as a private investigator. She cut her investigative teeth working for a well-known private investigator in San Francisco.
In February 2021, Random House published Ms. McGarrahan’s first book. Two Truths and a Lie: A Murder, a Private Investigator, and Her Search for Justice, begins with the botched execution of Jesse Tafero. Her book has received exceptional reviews from Kirkus, National Public Radio, CrimeReads, The Washington Post, Publishers Weekly, and The New York Times. This episode is sponsored in part by the Investigators Toolbox.
Don’t miss last week’s episode (another journalist turned private eye). I spoke with New York private investigator Tyler Maroney about his first book, The Modern Detective: How Corporate Intelligence is Reshaping the World. You may find reviews in the Independent and The New Yorker. Listen to this exciting episode here and then subscribe today so you never miss an episode!
